Highlight of my life!

Today I achieved a feat that few people have ever accomplished. For years, smart and capable individuals have ambitiously lined up in the hope of reaching the impossible. I have beat John Marvin Harper at monopoly. No, not just beat, pounded into the ground. I spanked him! Now I can die happy.

Memorial Day Part II

Ok, the last post on Memorial Day was entirely too long! Anyway, Tuesday was Noah's big day- Horse Day! Noah has an OBSESSION with all things cowboy- stirrups, hats, chaps, lassos, and horses. So John and I set up a special horseriding day for him with my dad. He LOVED it. Wednesday was Casey's and Carson's graduation in Idaho Falls. I can't believe it's been four years since I was in a cap and gown myself. All in all, we had a great trip!

Turn your head to the side, and it's me...on a horse!

We took our niece and nephew to see Prince Caspian. SO GOOD!

Presenting the incredible cowboy Noah!

Sisters!

And now you clap!

Our Memorial Day Weekend

We have had a pretty crazy couple of weeks lately! It all started with our marathon memorial day weekend. John's family is hugely into memorial day. His grandfather was a United States Congressman, and was the most patriotic man I have ever met! Also, it's a time for his whole family to get together to remember his father Marvin John Harper. We drove to Blackfoot on Friday and immediately made a quick trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a few odds and ends. There's nothing like the Wal-Mart in Blackfoot at eleven o'clock at night to remind you that you are back in Idaho. Saturday John's sisters (Rachel, Ruth, Martha) and I threw a baby shower for his sister Mary. She's expecting her first baby in July; Macyn Cherie Gibb. So cute! The shower was a lot of fun; and Mary got the cutest gifts! I was in charge of the shower games (so outside of my area of expertise) and things went pretty well. We took turns guessing what flavor of baby food was in the jar ( Mary nearly threw up at the macaroni and cheese!) and tried to see who's "water" would break first! That night we played a seriously intense game of Phase Ten; Martha even kept a spread sheet for the scores! I think Rachel was the lucky winner. Sunday after church, we visited the Blackfoot cemetery with the Harper extended family. It was pretty neat, Grandpa Harper took us to all of the family graves and told us his family memories. It was a very special experience, and I was so happy to be there with my husband. Monday was the main event: the memorial day celebration in Malad! There was only one problem...it was pouring outside! The ceremony was great though. I loved watching the color guard present the flags and shoot their guns! What can I say, I'm still an Idaho girl at heart! Anyway, after spending the most of the day in Malad, we headed back to Blackfoot for another Harper extended family get-together. And more food! We tied a quilt for Mary's baby too. Well...the other girls tied the quilt. I only lasted a few minutes. But at least I tried! My favorite part of Monday was going out to dinner that night with john's older siblings (and Joey.) We hit up Melina's- so good! I get the biggest craving for their mexican food when I am in Provo, so we love going when we are home! We had so much fun catching up and laughing together. Okay, this post is getting too long and I'm kinda tired...so stay tuned for Memorial Day weekend part II!
